On November 16th and 17th, the EAIC hosted its Annual Meeting and Conference in Frisco, Texas. The event gathered the EAIC community, the Advisory Council, the EAIC & Niedersachsen Aviation Inbound Delegation, as well as distinguished guests to network and learn more about current trends in transatlantic trade and investment.
During our Annual Meeting on November 16th, our EAIC community and corporate members used the opportunity to engage with both the Advisory Council and EAIC leadership on the organizations’ agenda for 2018 and the strategic outlook.
After welcoming remarks by our hosts and sponsors Jim Gandy (Frisco Economic Development Corporation) and Lorie Vincent (Team Texas), the annual Conference on November 17th kicked off with the first panel titled “Current EU Developments and Implications for FDI”, with panelists Dr. Hansjörg Heppe (Locke Lord), Florian Stamm (Smith, Gambrell and Russell), Alessia Paolicchi (Italy-America Chamber of Commerce), and Gene Stinson (Southern Economic Development Council - SEDC).
On the second panel, our Advisory Council and Corporate members Florian Stamm, Jim Blair (Navigator Consulting), Jeff Forsythe (McCallum Sweeney Consulting), Emily J. Tucker (American Electric Power – AEP) and Sebastian Eich (Navigo Corp.) shared insights into recent projects and current transatlantic policy frictions that could have an impact on FDI flows.
The day concluded with insights from our Inbound Aviation Delegation. Norbert Steinkemper (Niedersachsen Aviation), kicked off the debate with a short presentation on Niedersachsen as one of the most important clusters for the aviation industry in Germany. The debate on current trends in the aviation industry and lessons learned during the EAIC delegation trip was held between Norbert Steinkemper, Matthias Schüler (Aljo Aluminium Bau Jonuscheit GmbH), Andreas Kirschner (SACS Boysen USA), und Dr. Ullrich Kämmerer (Roedl USA).
